About The Author: Stuart Anderson

Creativity requires the freedom to consider unthinkable alternatives
and to question the worth of trusted practices.

I've been making stretchwear patterns in some form or another for as long as I can remember. If you remember that fluoro orange, pink and green that was used in aerobicwear back in the eighties you'll know why I'm too embarassed to admit I was around for that!

I had my own boutique swimwear label until late 2005 and left that to follow a wonderful opportunity with a major swimwear brand. While a great experience, I found working within a rigid corporate structure was just not what I wanted at this stage in my life, but I had to give it a try. Rather than re-build my label straight away I've decided to take a year or two for reflection, my family and their interests.

I'm essentially on a fashion 'time-out' except for a few remaining pattern clients. I get to enjoy the good life up in the Queensland tropics with my wife and children. Much of my time is spent managing my wife's dental surgery or playing with the kids. I anticipate the possibility of a little teaching in the near future. Originally trained as a geologist, I entered the fashion industry back in 1990 and very quickly found that I enjoyed the many challenges swimwear offered back then.

My last personal label range can be seen in my 2005/2006 Catalogue. Items from this range are no longer available, but instructions to create your personal version of these designs can be found on the website

I'm constantly asked why I haven't rushed back to swimwear yet. Anyone who knows me well also knows I have strong feelings about the fashion industry. Some good, some bad. I guess you could say I love fashion but I dislike the egos and gossip. I do look forward to going back to swimwear but only when the right time presents itself. My feeling is, people will still buy bikinis next year so what's the hurry!

In the mean time, I'm quite happy to help students and members of the public learn how to make swimwear and lingerie patterns. If you get stuck, don't feel afraid to send me an email. Please just make sure you've read everything on the site first.
