Welcome to the Lazy Person's Pattern Library

If you have trouble making your own patterns, or you quite simply don't have the time to learn how, then don't give up. You can enter your own measurements and my server will make the blocks (aka slopers) and patterns for you.

Firstly, you will need to measure yourself and enter your measurements (you'll need a friend to help). You only need to do this once as the measurements will be stored on your computer. The server will get the measurements from your computer automatically every time you choose a new pattern. Easy isn't it! Then simply use the pull down menu to select the pattern group you're interested in.

You will be required to select an amount of ease for each pattern based on how much your fabric stretches, and sometimes you can have control over other elements of pattern construction. If you are not sure how to estimate stretch then read this first.

Your chosen block or pattern should automatically appear in your browser. Remember, patterns are bigger than the A4 size of most printers so you won't see the whole pattern when it's displayed at full size in your broswer. For more information on SVG, or if your pattern doesnt display or print properly then visit my SVG help FAQ.

Remember, every person's figure is different. Even if the measurements are identical between two people, they can still be an entirely different shape. There is no perfect golden rule of shape based on measurement no matter how many people say there is. While a custom measured pattern will fit most people, only a custom fitted pattern will perfectly fit a person. The resulting patterns also depend on how accurately you take the measurements.

I recommend always making up a toile before cutting up your good fabric! This section is also no substitute for learning how to do things yourself ... if you don't, you'll probably lose more time and money in wasted fabrics by skipping the learning process ... but here it is anyway ... don't say you weren't warned!
